The England Under-21s shot-stopper impressed on loan at Bramall Lane last term as the Blades were promoted
Manchester United will hand England Under-21 goalkeeper Dean Henderson a new contract before loaning him back to Sheffield United.
Henderson, 22, helped the Blades win promotion to the Premier League last season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy to let him return to Bramall Lane for the new campaign.
Solskjaer will first reward Henderson, who saved a penalty in England’s loss to France at the Under-21 Euros, with a new long-term deal to replace his current agreement, which ends next year.
Blades boss Chris Wilder is delighted Solskjaer is letting him return and said: “Dean made it clear to us that he has a very strong interest in coming back to Bramall Lane, and Manchester United are happy to go along with that.
“He wants his United contract sorted out first of all but, in terms of putting another temporary deal in place, I think we’re in a good place with that one.
“United are pleased with what happened when he came here, with the way his game developed and the way he progressed over the course of the year.
“He’s rated very highly at Old Trafford and you can understand why. Dean was outstanding for us last season and being able to bring him back again for another year would be brilliant.”
