Arsenal scheduled Nicolas pepe medical
ARSENAL are ready to wrap up the transfer of Nicolas Pepe from Lille.
A £72m deal has been agreed between the two clubs for the Ivory Coast international.
Arsenal have acted quickly to beat a host of rivals including Liverpool, Manchester United and Napoli to Pepe.
The Serie A outfit were the frontrunners up until the Gunners lodged their offer.
Napoli met Lille’s price demands but were turned down by Pepe’s representatives.
According to Calcio Napoli, Pepe has said yes to completing the move to the Emirates Stadium.
All that is left to sort is final contract details and a medical.
Pepe is expected to sign a five-year deal that will put him among the club’s highest earners.
While Calcio Napoli claim he will visit Arsenal towards the end of next week to undergo a medical.
It is unclear when Pepe will make his debut for Unai Emery’s team.
The 22-year-old winger has had a delayed pre-season as he was on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations until July 11.
Arsenal travel to French outfit Angers, who Pepe would have faced last season with Lille, on Wednesday.
That is expected to come too soon so next Sunday’s pre-season trip to the Nou Camp to face Barcelona is a more realistic target.
Lille president Gerard Lopez admitted on Friday that Pepe was nearing an exit.
“For Pepe, we have received four acceptable offers from four big clubs,” Lopez said.
“It is up to the player now to decide where to go, with the contract offers made by the four clubs."
Pepe is likely to become Arsenal’s fourth summer signing.
Gabriel Martinelli was first through the door from FC Ituano of Brazil.
Dani Ceballos joined on loan from Real Madrid while William Saliba completed a £27m move from Saint-Etienne.
Salina, 18, has returned to the Ligue 1 outfit for the upcoming season on loan.
