De gea hails man united preseason performance
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has remained optimistic for a better future for the Red Devils. This is after their spectacular pre-season showing in Australia and Singapore.
De Gea, who signed a new 6-year contract offer at Old Trafford, is upbeat that his club will be a force to reckon with next season and will fight hard to bring at least a trophy home.
De Gea: “We have to improve a lot. We are #mufc, we need to fight for trophies. When you put on this badge, that’s what it means: fight for everything, give your best and bring the team again to the top.
“I think this pre-season we’re trying to have more of the ball, to keep the ball, to build from the back, to keep control of the game – things we didn’t have last season.”
United began their dominant campaign against Perth Glory where they beat their opponents 2-0. The 60th-minute goal by Marcus Rashford gave Solskjaer’s men the lead before James Garner sealed the victory with the second goal in the 85th-minute.
The Red Devils became even more lethal against Leads United. They thrashed the English club 4-0 with goals from Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial.
Solskjaer then led his men to Singapore to play against Inter Milan, who gave them a run for their money. Despite having 61% possession and 90% pass accuracy, United managed to score their winning goal in the 76th-minute, thanks to Mason Greenwood.
United will conclude their Shanghai tour with a match against English rivals Tottenham on Thursday before returning to England.
