Man united to meet Bruno Fernandez agent tonight
MANCHESTER UNITED chiefs will reportedly meet Bruno Fernandes’ agent tonight as they look to close in on their third transfer of the summer.
United are in dire need of reinforcements after an abysmal year that saw them finish sixth in the Premier League.
It means that they will be plying their trade in the Europa League for the second time in three years.
But that has not stopped the Red Devils from splashing the cash, and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and co have taken the initiative ahead of their top six rivals.
Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have already been confirmed after United spent close to a combined £65m on the duo.
However, the spending is not set to stop there and Sporting midfielder Fernandes is the next target on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s list.
The Portuguese ace had an incredible season after scoring 32 times across all competitions, adding a further 18 assists.
With Ander Herrera leaving, United are keen on signing a replacement and Fernandes would provide a much more offensive threat.
It has led to reports that Old Trafford chiefs are meeting the 24-year-old’s agent Miguel Pinho in England to arrange a deal.
Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira tweeted: “All confirmed: tonight Miguel Pinho (#BrunoFernandes' agent) will be in England to discuss the Bruno's deal to #ManchesterUnited.
“They have a telephone agreement by €6M a year plus bonuses.
“Now have to decide the strategy and offer for Sporting. #transfers #MUFC #mutd.”
It follows on from tweets the Italian report made last week, where he said: "#ManchesterUnited have offered to #Sporting €35M for #BrunoFernandes.
"Contacts ongoing, but Sporting want more.
"For him is ready a contract by €6M at year plus bonuses. #transfers #MUFC #mutd."
