MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wants at least two more signings this summer with Leicester defender Harry Maguire his top transfer target.

Solskjaer is expected to be busy in the final weeks of the transfer window.

The Norwegian is keen to get fresh faces in the Manchester United squad after a disappointing season last year.

He has already brought Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Old Trafford but is still eager to make more signings.

And the Standard report Solskjaer wants at least one midfielder while Maguire remains his priority.

Discussions are being held between United and Leicester with the Red Devils so far refusing to meet Leicester’s reported £90million valuation of Maguire.

Former Premier League striker Brian McBride believes Maguire will solve one issue United had last season.

“You look at him as a player and he’s got a presence defensively,” McBride said.

“First and foremost that is the most important thing [for a defender].

“But he has the ability to play out of the back.

“Too much last year Manchester United looked like they were going to give the ball away in a bad area when put under pressure.

“That helps solve that problem.”

“I'm very happy with the two players we've brought in, but now we've got to be patient,” Solskjaer said.

“This is a long haul and it is very important we get the right ones in.

“We can't just jump onto a different path if we hit a hurdle. My feelings are that I am not frustrated at all.

“I believe in these players. I'm sure we could do well but it's both short-term and long-term.”
