Its not nice kloop says on Fernandez joining united
Jurgen Klopp says Man Utd’s summer transfer business is “not nice” as reported interest in Bruno Fernandes increases.
The Red Devils finished sixth last season, 31 points behind Premier League runners-up Liverpool, but have already signed Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Ole Gunner Solskjaer seeks to overhaul his squad.
The battle to sign Fernandes: Five key things to know…
- Liverpool and Man Utd have both been linked with Fernandes.
- It is thought Sporting Lisbon rate him at £60m.
- Liverpool have lacked a creative midfielder since selling Coutinho.
- But Klopp says the Reds won’t be signing him, clearing the way for Man Utd.
- Fernandes notched 20 goals and 13 assists in Liga NOS last season.
Fernandes is the latest player to reportedly land in United’s crosshair’s and despite some rumoured interest from Liverpool, the Old Trafford club are now firm favourites to land the £60m-rated midfielder.
And asked about the prospect of the Portugal international moving to Liverpool’s arch-rivals, Klopp said: “If he will do that then we will face him.
“He’s obviously a really good player. They have already a few really good players, so that will probably make them stronger.
“It’s not nice, but it (United’s transfer business) is not our cup of tea, to be honest.”

Liverpool drew 2-2 with Fernandes’ Sporting side in New York on Wednesday and speaking after the game, Marcel Keizer – the Lisbon giants’ director of football – admitted the 24-year-old may well leave before the end of the summer transfer window.
“Bruno is a good player, an important player,” he said. “Everyone would like that he stays but we do not know what the future will bring so we have to wait.
“Do I know about an official approach? I am just the coach. You ask the wrong guy.
“We know he plays very well and clubs like him and we have to see what happens.
“This is the job for the coach. You realise some players can go. Every player can go. Wait and see.”
