Manchester United wants to sign Garret Bale on loan

Manchester United will try to sign Gareth Bale on loan.

Real Madrid want to get rid of the former Tottenham forward after signing Eden Hazard, with Zinedine Zidane not picturing a future for Bale at the Santiago Bernabeu.

But both his old team Spurs and United have made it clear they will not be meeting Real's price tag of £75million for the Wales man.

According to the Mirror, United would be interested in signing the 29-year-old on a season-long loan - with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side holding an option to extend it by 12 months.

Real would therefore be able to knock £50m off their wage bill over the next two seasons.

There would also be the sweetener of a loan fee to tempt Real into letting Bale go temporarily.

The arrival of Hazard has made it clear that Bale is not in Zidane's plans and the manager is keen to force him out.

Bale will not move easily, though, and he may have doubts over a move to United as they did not qualify for the Champions League.

United have targeted young players this summer yet would be willing to finance a deal for Bale, who earns £480,000-a-week at Real, as it would excite their fans.

That would put him in the same wage bracket as current top earner Alexis Sanchez.
