Bayern Munich close in on sane deal
Bayern Munich have edged closer to completing the signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City after reportedly agreeing to a staggering £16.5million-a-year deal with the player.
The City winger has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern throughout the summer window.
Sportsmail understands City would expect to recoup upwards of £135m for Sane, who they bought for £37m three years ago.
It is not yet clear if the two clubs have reached an agreement over the fee but Sky Sports in Germany claim the player has agreed personal terms after meeting with Bayern officials in London this week.
Sane has travelled with the rest of the City squad to London and it will be telling if he starts - or is left out entirely - against Liverpool.
He has two years left on his current deal with City but has yet to agree to an extension - something Guardiola said was close weeks ago but now appears unlikely in the wake of Bayern's interest.
'What (sporting director) Txiki (Begiristain) sent me two or three weeks ago, it was quite close. Now it's not,' Guardiola conceded on Friday.
'I want players who want to stay because it's impossible for me as a manager to convince a player to do what we want to do when his head is away from here.
'The player didn't tell me anything about wanting to leave, so that is the only reality I have. If he knocks on the door and tells me he wants to leave then we are going to speak with the club.
'We want him to stay here because we try to extend the contract for more than one year. We were quite close a month ago and now it's a little bit different but that's the reality - I can't say any more.'
