Harry Maguire wants to make Old Trafford a "fortress" after his man-of-the-match performance to lead Manchester United to a 4-0 Premier League victory over Chelsea.
Marcus Rashford's double helped rampant United start the new season with a bang as Chelsea capitulated in Frank Lampard's first match in charge.
The Premier League kept the most eagerly anticipated of the opening weekend to last as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started the Reds' latest transitional season against a side buoyed by the appointment of a club great.
Lampard's side were on top for large patches but ended up being blown away at Old Trafford, where Rashford's double complemented goals from Anthony Martial and debutant Daniel James as United's curtain-raiser ended in a dream 4-0 victory.
Maguire was imperious at the back for United to help keep Chelsea at bay in the first half, and the £80million signing now wants to make Old Trafford a tough place for their rivals to come to.
Maguire told Sky Sports: "It's a great start for myself and the team.
"We rode our luck a bit in the first half but in the second half we were a lot better and I think we thoroughly deserved the three points.
"I was reiterating on the pitch even at 3-0 and 4-0 that we wanted a clean sheet.
"We have to make this place a fortress and a hard place to come and score."
