Despite this, the 26-year old still showed his willingness to play for United on Sunday by taking his place in a strong line-up with Sanchez, Sergio Romero, Matteo Darmian, Axel Tuanzebe, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood and Tahiti Chong also figuring.

Sanchez managed just over 65 minutes while Lingard scored two of the goals with Greenwood and Chong adding one apiece.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also at Carrington on Sunday as he kept a check on United's progress with transfer targets.

The United boss is hopeful of two more arrivals with Juventus pair Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic the primary targets.

A deal for Dybala would signal Romelu Lukaku's departure who upset teammates on Saturday by posting a comparison of his running stats in training on social media. It earned a firm rebuke from the club who ordered him to take the post down.
